Terms and Conditions

These terms cover two things: using this website, and how our surveys and quotes work before any job is agreed.

Last updated 7 October 2026

About these terms

This website is run by Avon Skylights Bristol ("we", "us"), a business fitting new and replacement rooflights and roof windows. By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use it.

Questions about these terms can go to info@avonskylightsbristol.co.uk.

Using the website

  • You may read, print and share our pages for your own personal use.
  • You must not copy our text, photographs or design for commercial use without our written permission.
  • You must not misuse the site, for example by introducing viruses, trying to gain unauthorised access, or sending false enquiries through the forms.

We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site without notice, and we do not promise it will always be available.

The information on this site

Our guides and answers are general information to help you think through a project. They do not replace a survey of your own roof. Planning and Building Regulations rules can change and can apply differently to listed buildings, flats and conservation areas, so please check your own situation with your council or with us before relying on them.

Cost figures on the site are broad UK market ranges, not quotes. The only price that applies to your job is the one in your written quote.

Where we link to other websites, such as government pages, we do so for convenience and are not responsible for their content.

Surveys and quotes

  1. The survey is free. We visit, measure and look at the roof and the room, and there is no charge for this.
  2. The quote is written and itemised. It lists the units, the work and the price, and shows the opening options for each rooflight.
  3. There is no obligation. You are free to take time over it, compare it or decline it, and we will not chase you repeatedly.
  4. Each quote states how long it stays valid. After that date, prices for units and materials may have moved, so we will confirm or reissue it before starting.
  5. The quote is based on what the survey found. If you change the scope, or something comes to light that could not reasonably be seen at survey (for example rot in hidden roof timbers), we will explain it and agree any change with you in writing before doing the extra work.

A contract is formed only when you accept a written quote. The terms of that contract are set out in, or sent with, the quote.

Your right to cancel

Where a contract is agreed in your home rather than at a business premises, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 usually give you 14 days to cancel without giving a reason. If you ask us to start work within those 14 days and then cancel, you may have to pay for work already done. Full details come with your quote. Our guarantee page explains the cover on finished work.

Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

We are not liable for any loss caused by relying on general information on this website instead of a survey of your property.

Privacy and law

How we use personal details sent through the site is explained in our privacy policy. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, although you may also bring proceedings in the part of the UK where you live.
