Accessibility Statement

We want everyone to be able to use this website, read our guides and ask for a quote, whatever device or assistive technology they use.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. These are the internationally recognised guidelines for making web content usable by people with a wide range of disabilities.

What we have built in

  • Pages use a clear heading structure, so screen reader users can jump between sections.
  • Everything can be reached and used with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
  • Text and background colours were checked for contrast in a browser while the site was built.
  • Images that carry meaning have text descriptions.
  • Animations switch off if your device is set to reduce motion.
  • Text can be enlarged to twice its normal size without loss of content, and tables fit the screen of a phone without sideways scrolling.
  • The menu and the WhatsApp panel can be closed with the Escape key.

Known gaps

Some parts of the site are provided by other companies, and we cannot fully control how accessible they are:

  • The quote form. Our enquiry form is embedded from our customer management provider. It may not meet every part of WCAG 2.1 AA, for example in how errors are announced to screen readers. You can always email info@avonskylightsbristol.co.uk instead.
  • The area map. The interactive map on our contact page may be hard to use with a keyboard or screen reader. The same information is given in text on our areas page.
  • WhatsApp. The WhatsApp button hands over to WhatsApp, whose own accessibility is outside our control.

We will keep checking these and improve them where we can.

Reporting a problem

If you find something on this site hard to use, please let us know. Tell us the page address and what happened, and we will reply within 5 working days. Email info@avonskylightsbristol.co.uk, or ring the number given on our contact page.

Other ways to talk to us

If it would help, we can talk through your project and your quote by phone or email rather than through the website, and we can send your quote in a format that works for you, such as larger print. Just ask when you get in touch, or when you request a quote.
